Whilst most were probably dismayed by the rainy weather this weekend some of the Hardway Residents Group were overjoyed at the prospect of being able to enjoy their homes without the nuisance experienced from the gangs of youths gathering on the Memorial Green and surrounding areas.
PC Rain ensured they were able to enjoy a mostly trouble free and quiet weekend. The only exception being the cars that turned up Hardway Slipway at 0330 am Sunday morning, whose occupants spent the next hour shouting and screaming and running around the green until finally departing in their cars an hour later!
Let's be frank, despite some in authority stating that the youths are "just children playing" such statements totally downplay the true nature of the problem in this public space.
We challenge them to spend some real time in this area and see the true impact of a public space where young people can do what they choose with no boundaries around their behaviour and no fear of possible repercussions.
Gosport Council has been provided with graphic evidence of the problem, which included videos and photographs. This is not an individual's opinion, it is factual information from multiple sources, giving them real insight into the anti-social behaviour and nuisance happening on and around the public space that they are responsible for managing.
What action are they going to take, to resolve this in the long term and end the summer misery for local residents and users of this public space?
