Looking after the Green

As part of our campaign to rid Hardway area of the seasonal anti-social behaviour in public spaces there has been a focus on the Memorial Green and how it is maintained by Gosport Borough Council. In July a small group of residents took steps to remove the overgrown weeds around the memorial as it was apparent that nobody was maintaining this, and 7 Black sacks of weeds were removed.

Following the Action Group meeting on 11th September the issue of maintenance, both grass cutting and the memorial planting of Hardway Green was raised with Gosport Council. As part of addressing the anti-social area it was highlighted that If we want visitors to the Green to respect the memorial then this area needs more attention.
You may have noticed that the grass was cut the same week. We have also received this response regarding the Memorial planting:-
Thank you for your email bringing this issue to our attention.
I can advise that our contractors have been instructed to attend and maintain the planted area.
I hope this is of assistance.
Kind Regards

If there is an area of Hardway that you feel is being neglected, has been vandalised, or has a litter problem then get intouch with Streetscene and let them know.
