Update: Council Survey

Some of our members attended a meeting with Gosport Borough Council officials on 20th November at the Civic Offices to discuss the PSPO petition and present evidence collected by Hardway RAG demonstrating the summer ASB problem.

Disappointingly at that meeting they were advised by the Council's legal team that Hampshire Police Safer Neighbourhood representatives have told them:

• They consider the level of ASB reporting to 101 to be low and there is not sufficient evidence for them to support a PSPO for Hardway in relation to seasonal ASB.

This is despite a petition signed by 348 people, the community meetings attended by large numbers of residents, significant evidence being provided to the contrary prior to the Council meeting (including video and photographs) and the fact that a Section 35 Dispersal Order was issued in the area this summer due to youth ASB!

Our Next Steps

We want to avoid another year of summer misery and despite the lack of support from Hampshire Police we will keep up the campaign for a PSPO.

The Council need to hear from residents and businesses about their experience of ASB relating to Hardway Green/Priory Road area. In order to make this as easy as possible they are preparing a survey for the community/residents to complete.

Council Officials have agreed to attend a meeting to hear from the community directly the level of concern over the summer ASB and Hardway RAG will be arranging this to take place in January.

Over the next week some of our members who were at the meeting will be out and about knocking on doors to update you on the next steps which we will take whilst the Council complete their survey.

Summer might seem a long way away, but we will keep up this campaign to protect our neighbourhood from the yobs who ruin this wonderful place once the warm weather and light evenings return again.
