The PSPO Worked!

So its been a quiet summer from us ...........and this is a good news story!
What fantastic weather, and thanks to our community's hard work getting the PSPO in place, incidents of anti-social behaviour at Hardway green and surrounding areas fell dramatically. This is at a time when other areas of Gosport such as Stanley Park have reported increased incidents.
Before the start of the summer representatives of our group met with local school, Brune Park, to inform them about the PSPO so they could make their pupils aware that ASB would not be tolerated and we also attempted (unsuccessfully) to engage with Senior officers at Hampshire Police responsible for community policing.
There were a number of reported incidents very early in the summer and thanks to the positive action taken by authorities the message was soon clearly understood that ASB by groups of young people (or any other groups or individuals) would not be tolerated and the PSPO would be enforced.
Littering reduced significantly, and young people, families, residents and visitors of all ages were generally able to use the area without intimidation, abuse or attack.
We have received plenty of positive comments about the difference this has made to our community and this has also been noted by Safer Gosport.

The PSPO remains in effect until October and will come into force again next year April -October 2019.
Unfortunately it doesn't mean our area has been crime free this summer and there have been some distressing incidents for local residents - it's important that if you see suspicious behaviour or witness a crime that you report this to the authorities.
